Pokémon Go: A Colossal Discovery Event Guide

A Colossal Discovery was the first ticketed event of Pokémon Go universe which is already concluded, and now everyone has few questions–Was there an overwhelming response from fans? Was this Pokémon Go’s paid event worth it? Well, we think that the upshot of this project was more of a gated event than a cool new experience. We did get what its creator Niantic promised–they had worded the event very clearly as a project revolving around special research to get Regigigas early. Regigigas is definitely a weird looking Pokémon, but the event challenged us with different research tasks to get this Pokémon. We felt underwhelmed as we could get a lot more for a paid event. Paying $8 for an event that was similar to Raid Day; it could have been more than just a “Special Research” project. Although, we really appreciate the fun concept of temporarily reducing the Legendary raid stats so smaller groups could easily take them down.

A Quick Recap

The event is over for all time zones, but many fans who had not purchased the tickets would like to know about the event details. Let’s have a quick recap. Players who bought the event pass could receive the research on November 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m local time. The research could be completed at any time, but Niantic recommended finishing it on the same day till 7:00 p.m local time. Why? because players would need to catch the Legendary Golem/Regi trio to complete the quest line, and they were only available until November 4, 2019, 1:00 p.m. PDT.

The event had four parts, where three parts involved battling and catching one of the Regi trio. Finally, to get a Regigigas encounter in the final stage, players must finish all quests to get to the fourth stage. We have updated these quests to reflect post event changes.
